Semi-aromatic polyamide has advantages of both aromatic and aliphatic polyamide. The semi-aromatic polyamide fiber was prepared using melting spinning rather than solution spinning in this article. Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) were used to measure the crystallization and the thermal stability of the semi-aromatic polyamide before spinning. After heat treatment of the as-spun fiber under different temperatures, the tensile strength, Young’s modulus as well as elongation at break of the fiber were studied by tensile tester. By comparing the difference between the fibers before and after heat treatment, it was found that the fiber with heat treatment showed much better properties than the one without heat treatment. |
